Every winter we have to rescue baby hedgehogs who were born too late to survive the winter on their own. Having not been given enough time to put on sufficient weight to see them through their winter hibernation, these ‘autumn orphans’ must be kept awake and warm and fed around the clock to ensure they survive through to spring.
The basic costs of caring for an autumn orphan through the winter is approx. £50 per hedgehog, and that doesn’t include extra costs such as medication or surgery for poorly animals.
If you can spare even a few pounds to help with the cost of caring for our autumn orphans this winter, please visit our support page to find out how you can make a donation.
